What Is a Moon Circle? The History and Healing Power of Women Gathering

Long before modern wellness spaces existed, women gathered in circles. Across cultures and continents, women came together under the moon to rest, reflect, share wisdom, and support one another through life’s seasons.

For melanated women especially, communal healing has always been part of our heritage. In many African and Indigenous traditions, the moon was honored as a sacred rhythm keeper for both the body and the earth. Women gathered during full moons to pray, sing, move their bodies, share stories, and reconnect with their intuition and community.

These gatherings were not performances or workshops—they were sacred spaces where women could be fully seen, heard, and held.

Historically, these circles felt warm, grounding, and deeply communal. There might have been music, drumming, laughter, tears, prayer, quiet reflection, or dancing under the night sky. Women braided each other’s hair, shared food, passed down wisdom, and reminded one another that healing does not happen in isolation.

The moon itself has always been a guide. Just as the moon moves through cycles of darkness, fullness, and renewal, so do we. Gathering in alignment with the moon allows us to pause and reflect on where we are in our own cycles—what we’re releasing, what we’re nurturing, and who we are becoming.

At Live In Love Moon Circles, we honor this tradition while grounding the experience in the core practices of the Love Led Alignment Method—a framework that invites women to reconnect with themselves through self-awareness, emotional release, intentional reflection, and embodied healing.

Through practices like journaling, gentle movement, intention setting, and sound healing, each circle becomes a space to slow down, listen inward, and realign with love as our guiding force. Instead of pushing through life disconnected from ourselves, we learn to move in rhythm—with our bodies, our emotions, our community, and the natural cycles of the moon.

In a world that often asks women to constantly give, produce, and perform, gathering in circle becomes an act of restoration. It’s a reminder that we are not meant to carry everything alone.

Each month we come together to pause, reflect, and reconnect—healing in harmony with the moon.

If you’ve been craving deeper connection, intentional reflection, or simply a moment to breathe in a supportive space with other women, this circle is for you.
